Walcott's Arsenal contract expires at the end of the current season and despite the England international previously stating that he wanted to remain plying his trade with the Gunners, there is a growing expectation that this will be the 23-year-old's last season at the club.
While the on-going contract negotiations between Walcott and Arsenal remain at an impasse, Wenger is already preparing to delve into the transfer market to secure a replacement for the former Southampton starlet and according to the Daily Mail, has identified Zaha as the ideal signing for the Gunners.
Like Walcott, Zaha possesses lots of pace which he regularly uses to beat defences and is known for being a skilful winger with a bagful of tricks up his sleeves. Despite being only 19 years of age, Zaha has already become an integral part of Palace's first team and was voted as the club's Young Player of the Year for two years in a row.
The Daily Mail also reports that Arsenal have dispatched scouts to observe the £12million rated player, with former assistant manager Pat Rice present at Palace's 4-3 win over Burnley on Saturday, and Rice will surely have been impressed with what he saw after Zaha scored a brace for his side in the game.
Zaha has made a total of 106 appearances for Palace so far and has scored 14 goals in the process.
