Despite initial optimism from the club's fans, Liverpool could only manage two losses and a draw from their first three Premier League games.

Speaking to the club's official website, Allen admitted he was disappointed that the team only had one point to show for their efforts so far, but he was confident things would start coming together for the Reds soon.

"There have been frustrating moments, it just shows the fine line between winning and the frustration you can get," Allen said.

"I think the Manchester City game [which finished 2-2] is a great example of that. We could have come away with all three points, but we're faithful and confident that things are going to come good for us. We've got too much ability and talent in the team for it not to."

Since moving from manager Brendan Rodgers' former side Swansea, Allen has slotted effortlessly into the Liverpool midfield. The Welshman revealed that playing alongside Reds captain Steven Gerrard has been a dream come true.

"Just having the chance to be in the same dressing room as someone like that inspires you to go out and perform," Allen shared.

"When I'm out there and look alongside me and see Steven Gerrard, then it makes my job on the pitch a lot easier - I can just give him the ball."

Liverpool travel to the Stadium of Light to play Sunderland in their Premier League fixture tomorrow [Saturday].
