Considered to be one of the leading goalkeepers in modern football, Lloris left Olympique Lyon to sign for Tottenham on the last day of the transfer window. However, with current Spurs first choice Brad Friedel in impressive form, supporters of the French custodian fear he will be warming the bench in his first season.
Manager Andres Villas-Boas confirmed to reporters recently that he would not offer Friedel's starting spot to Lloris, encouraging the former Lyon player to prove himself worthy of displacing the experienced American. According to Deschamps, the new Tottenham goalkeeper was concerned by his new boss' lack of support.
"Lloris did not appreciate Villas-Boas' statements, I saw what Villas-Boas said. If I comment on this, it is going to echo on the other side of the Channel, but it surprised me," he revealed to Telefoot.
"I'm not going to create a problem that I'm not part of, but if it happens [he is No.2] then it will be worth talking about."
The former Olympique Marseille manager hinted his belief that Lloris deserved better from his new employers.
"You all know the value of Hugo," Deschamps stated.
"I do not know what will happen but I hope everything goes well for him."
Tottenham travel to the Madejski Stadium to play Reading for their next Premier League fixture.
