The Blues have long been an admirer of the talented Schurrle and the English club initially offered £16 million offer for the German International but amount was deemed too little by Leverkusen and the two clubs failed to reach an agreement.
However, according to the Daily Mail, Abramovich is ready to meet the German club's evaluation of Schurrle and splash out £20 million to bring the former Mainz 05 player to Stamford Bridge.
Abramovich, in his bid to improve and rebuild his ageing Chelsea squad, has already spent more than £80 million on the likes of Eden Hazard, Marko Marin and Oscar but his extraordinary spree spending could increase to over £100 million if the deal for Schurrle goes through.
Schurrle had previously hinted at his willingness to move to the European Champions and despite Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller's insistence that the 21-year-old was not for sale, it is expected that the club will be extremely tempted by the money on offer for a player who cost them only £6.5 million.
Born in the German city of Ludwigshafen, Schurrle has made a name for himself as being a proficient winger, with his tireless running, shooting abilities and impeccable passing skills all earning him many admirers and he is regarded by many as one of the best young talents in the world.
Since joining Leverkusen in 2010, Schurrle has made 40 appearances for the club, scoring 9 goals and providing 3 assists in the process.
