The 15-year old had posted a video compliation of his abilities on Pnera, a website aimed at providing aspiring footballers a chance to showcase their skills online. The stream featured McLaren carrying out a series of mazy dribbles that ended in goals or displayed his accurate and thunderous shooting ability. The player's real name is William Oliveira Silva but earned himself a moniker after the racing group due to his speed on and off the ball, another trait that impressed Liverpool scouts.
The Daily Mail reports that the Reds backroom staff moved fast to offer McLaren a three year deal, as his video also attracted interest from several of Liverpool's Premier League rivals. Although the Reds have kept mum on the Brazilian's transfer, the player confirmed that he has received a contract from the Anfield club. However, he admitted that he was also considering options from Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal.
"A representative of Liverpool saw me play, liked what he saw and the club sent me a contract,' McLaren told Globo.
"But other teams are also interested - Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal. We'll see what happens."
