The France international did not feature significantly at Euro 2012 as he was only afforded brief cameos substitute by national coach Laurent Blanc. Nevertheless, back in England, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger appears to have given the club officials the task of ensuring that a deal is struck bringing the striker to London in the coming weeks.

Giroud, 25, was the topscorer in Ligue 1 with 21 league goals in the preceding season. He helped his club secure their maiden Ligue 1 title but appears set to ply his trade at the Emirates next season after Wenger revealed on Friday that the deal was "90 per cent" done.

The player revealed that he reciprocated Wenger's interest and is eager to play for the north London club.

He spoke to the Sun and stated: "I'm so proud to become a Gunner.

"I am so happy to be signing for Arsenal - it is something that represents so much for me.

"I've always dreamed of playing in the Premier League and Arsenal are a great club with many French players."

Giroud will be the north London club's second summer signing after the earlier procurement of Lukas Podolski.
