The 25-year-old star is currently on international duty with Spain at the European Championships and there is speculation City will offer him a deal worth £52million over the next five years after the tournament.

Silva played a key role in Roberto Mancini's side as City won their first ever Barclays Premier League trophy this season. His stellar performances - including a starring role in City's 6-1 demolition of rivals Manchester United - during the campaign has attracted the interest of clubs across Europe. Most recently, Real Madrid were linked with a £30million summer approach for the player.

"David has a long contract with Man City," Silva's agent Julio Llorente told the Daily Star Sunday.

"I don't know what will happen in the future but he wants to stay."

Silva still has two years left to run on his current contract at Eastlands. He signed for City in a £24million deal from Valencia two years ago.
