Fergie has no Cleverley worries
Tom Cleverley has been hailed as "potentially the best midfielder in England" by Sir Alex Ferguson as the Scot considers his team for the clash with Liverpool.
Man United vs Liverpool Past Meetings
Cleverley has not played since November but such is the faith Ferguson has in the 22-year-old that he is expected to feature in United's Premier League encounter with Liverpool at Old Trafford on Saturday.
The midfielder is enjoying his first full season in the United first team but it was away from the club - at Wigan where he spent last season on loan - where Cleverley matured into the player that you see today.
"Physically he wasn't up to the standards of the Premier League," Sir Alex told the club's website.
"So we sent him on loan first to Leicester City and then to Watford.
"Then he went to Wigan Athletic last season and that was terrific for the kid. He came on in leaps and bounds and when he came back to us you could see he was a more rounded person.
"He's been terrific, the kid."
It is hard to imagine that Cleverley has made just seven first-team appearances for United so far given the impact he has had on fans and the club's experienced manager during the early part of the campaign.
Cleverley was not selected for Thursday's Manchester Senior Cup defeat to Man City which means he is likely to be in the squad for United's game against Liverpool this weekend.
