Speculations have risen that the former France international, who is currently training with the Gunners, could be on the verge of making a comeback after watching his old team-mate Thierry Henry enjoy a fairytale return when he scored the winning goal for Arsenal on Monday's F.A clash with Leeds United.
This was further enticed by Jack Wilshere, who stated on his Twitter account: "Super, super Robert Pires is training today........return of another king?!? How amazing would that be!"
But the 38-year-old winger ruled out the possibility, stating on his own account: "And of course i am training just to maintain my fitness level! But thanks I appreciate you all want me back at Arsenal!"
Pires has yet to find a new club ever since his departure from Aston Villa at the end of last season, although he has been rumoured to have been approached by Ligue 1 outfit Valenciennes on December.
Pires has enjoyed a remarkable career with Arsenal, winning three FA Cups and two Premier League titles in his six-year stay with the Gunners. He was also a part of the famous 'Invincibles' side which went through the 2003-04 league season without a single defeat.
