After weeks of discontent, there were smiles on the faces of Arsenal supporters after the transfer window closed thanks to Wenger's purchase Ozil from Real Madrid for 42.2 million pounds.
In his first interview as a Gunners player, Ozil told the club's official website that he expected to become a better footballer with Wenger's guidance.
"I chose Arsenal because they are one of the top clubs in England. The coach is a world-class manager - he’s demonstrated that for years. A lot of players have developed under his guidance in the past and that’s why I decided to join Arsenal. I want to improve myself further and I’m looking forward to the style of play," Ozil shared.
"Arsenal are well known for the strength of their technical game and their desire to play attacking football. I think I will fit perfectly into that. That’s why I chose to sign for the Club."
The German international topped the assists chart in La Liga last year and Ozil revealed that creating chances was one side of the game he enjoyed very much.
"It [assists] leads to success and I’m the sort of player that likes to create goals. I think a lot of my team-mates know me as a player who is not selfish," Ozil stated.
"It makes me very happy when I create goals or score goals myself. But the most important thing is that the team reaches its goal and plays positive football."
