Pune hold East Bengal to goalless draw

Pune FC and East Bengal played out a goalless draw at the Balewadi Sports Complex ground in Pune on Saturday.

East Bengal vs Pune FC

Jeje Lalpekhlua of Pune FC and Ozbey Toglay of Kingfisher East Bengal were the only two players who came close to scoring but were left lamenting their luck.

Both Pune FC and East Bengal created quite a few chances but the respective defence worked full time to thwart all attempts. The goalkeepers too chipped in with crucial saves.

For Pune FC, Abhra Mondal was the real saviour as he blocked several shots and took quite a few blows. Interestingly, Abhra is on loan from East Bengal.

Courtesy of the lone point, Pune remained on the 5th position, one ahead of Prayag United. Prayag moved up earlier in the day on goal difference.

East Bengal have moved up to the second spot, ahead of Churchill Brothers, who are set to play Mohun Bagan on Sunday.

Gurpreet Singh Sandhu was adjudged man-of-the-match.
