Gent go above Anderlecht

Gent edged above Anderlecht and to the top of the Jupiler Pro League on goal difference after beating Westerlo 3-1.

The visitors took the lead on the stroke of half-time through Dieter De Kelver and held on to it until 21 minutes from the end when Zlatan Ljubijankic levelled.

Yassine El Ghanassy put Gent ahead 10 minutes later before Jesper Jorgensen made the points safe.

Anderlecht play their game in hand at Mons on Tuesday.

Club Brugge remained in the hunt - two points behind the top two - after Bjorn Vleminckx's goal saw them beat Zulte-Waregem 1-0.

Kortrijk leapfrogged Standard Liege into fourth after beating their rivals 2-0 with goals from Gertjan De Mets and Steven Monrose.

The visitors also had Karim Belhocine sent-off late on to cap a miserable evening.

Rock-bottom St.Truidense battled to a goalless draw at Lokeren, as did struggling Lierse at Beerschot.

Leuven twice squandered the lead to draw 2-2 at Mechelen.

Jordan Remacle and Derick Ogbu scored for the visitors with David Destorme grabbing a brace for the home side, the second coming after Leuven had had Lionel Gendarme sent-off.

Today's other game saw Genk beat Cercle Brugge 4-2.

Igor Vetokele and Bernt Evens twice put Cercle ahead either side of a Elyaniv Barda equaliser but from there it was all Genk.

Christian Benteke made it 2-2, Jelle Vossen edged the hosts ahead and Fabien Camus netted a last-minute fourth.
