Due to unhealthy conditions caused by haze, the Women's Premier League sides sat out match day 16, with affected fixtures set to be rearranged at a later date.
When the teams returned to action on match day 17, their hunger for goals was not dampened by the unscheduled break.
Petra FC pulled off a morale-boosting 7-0 win over bottom side Nanyang Polytechnic in mid-week, but were subjected to a 9-0 humbling by second-placed Police Sports Association over the weekend. Nanyang Polytechnic's fortunes also took a turn for the worst as leaders Middle Rangers FC put nine goals past them at St Wilfrid.
Meanwhile, Young Women's quest to keep pace with the top two continued with a 5-0 win over Jollilads Arsenal FC, a result which helped Arion Football Academy build a three-point cushion in fourth place after their 2-0 victory against Warriors FC.
Match day 18 will see Winchester FC play their first game in two weeks when they take on Arion at First Toa Payoh Secondary School, with Warriors seeking a victory to close the gap between themselves and opponents Jollilads.
The proposition should prove easier for Young Women and Middle Rangers, who play bottom sides Nanyang Polytechnic and Petra respectively.
