Turkish Super Lig
Didier Drogba scored twice as Galatasaray edged a step closer to retaining their Super Lig title with a 3-1 home win over Elazigspor.
All four goals were scored in a frantic opening 26 minutes, with Burak Yilmaz (two minutes) and Drogba (20) putting Gala in charge before Elazigspor halved the deficit through Serdar Gurler's 22nd-minute strike.
Drogba restored Gala's two-goal lead almost immediately, though, and that was the end of the scoring as the Champions League quarter-finalists recorded their fifth successive league win to provisionally move seven points clear of nearest challengers Fenerbahce.
Portuguese Primeira Liga
Braga moved back up to third in the Liga standings with a 1-0 home win over Academica.
Jose Peseiro's side had seen their Champions League hopes suffer a blow with defeats to Sporting Lisbon and Porto in their previous two games but they got back on track tonight thanks to Ruben Micael's 44th-minute winner.
Braga are now level with fourth-placed Pacos de Ferreira on 46 points but have the better goal difference with four games remaining. Pacos play their game in hand against Rio Ave tomorrow.
Lyon took a big step towards a place in next season's Champions League as they claimed a last-gasp 2-1 win away Montpellier.
Lisandro Lopez gave the visitors the lead after 26 minutes but the outgoing champions were level five minutes before the break as Younes Belhanda scored.
But three minutes into stoppage time Clement Grenier slammed home from the edge of the box to move Lyon above Marseille and into second place in Ligue 1.
Montpellier are now six points out of the European places and that gap would be extended by Nice and Lille over the weekend.
Ajax's charge towards a third successive Eredivisie title suffered a slight setback tonight after they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Heerenveen.
A seventh successive victory would have seen the Amsterdam club move eight points clear of second-placed Vitesse Arnhem, who face a tough trip to fourth-placed Feyenoord on Sunday, and they looked on course to do that when Viktor Fischer put them ahead after 26 minutes.
However, in-form Heerenveen, who had won six of their previous seven games, battled back and Alfred Finnbogason's 53rd-minute equaliser earned them a share of the spoils.
Russian Premier League
Rubin Kazan missed the opportunity to put pressure on third-placed Anzhi Makhachkala after conceding a late equaliser to draw 1-1 at mid-table Amkar Perm.
Rubin looked set to move to within three points of Anzhi after taking a 26th-minute lead through Venezuela striker Jose Salomon Rondon.
However, Amkar substitute Maksim Kanunnikov netted an 83rd-minute equaliser to earn his side a point and leave Rubin having to settle for a fourth draw from their last five Premier League matches.
