The Azzurri were down by two goals after just thirty minutes at the Geneva stadium as Fred and Oscar completed two rapid counter-attacks to put the South Americans ahead.

In the second half, Daniele De Rossi pulled one back as he poked the ball home during a goalmouth scramble following a corner and a long-range Mario Balotelli strike allowed the Italians to walk away from the game with their heads held high.

Prandelli thoroughly enjoyed his side's performance and feels his men can build on the result even if they could not solicit a win on the night.

"We had a great game. We were down 2-0 at break. I looked to transmit the feeling we could score then equalise," Prandelli told Rai.

"We risked a lot being 2-0 down but we were better organised in the second half. It was good spirit from the team.

"I like us being in this form as it gives us more confidence.

"[Balotelli] had the best opportunities and scored a great goal. The important thing is that he is at the top of his game during competitions.

The game also saw two show-stoppers in Balotelli and Neymar square off for the first time. The watching fans were delighted with the tricks and turns both players managed to pull off in the game but it was the Italian who edged the contest by scoring the crucial equaliser.

Neymar was also left impressed by the AC Milan striker's performance and told reporters: "He's a player that I'm a big fan of. A great player and great person."

On his side's performance, the Santos star added, "I think the Selecao were good. We are getting better with each passing day and you can see our team improving."

"It's a great team, with players of real quality."
