"Catch me if you can!"

The Ecuadorian has not scored at all this season, compared to a six-goal haul in the previous term, and has struggled to get a regular sequence of games under his belt.

Manager Sir Alex Ferguson has used him sparingly this year and has only used him six times in the current year.

Valencia admits that he has not been at his best and feels that his dynamic wingplay has been hampered by recurring injuries this season.

"It's not been quite the season I would have hoped for on a personal front," Valencia told reporters.

"I think the injuries I've had have held me back a bit. I still get the odd twinge from the last injury I had to my leg and that has perhaps affected my progress slightly.

Nevertheless, he insisted that he is keen to feature as often as possible in order to try and make a difference for the Premier League leaders.

"I hope to get the chance to be involved in as many games as possible.

"If I'm picked I'm determined to grab my opportunities and do my best for my team-mates, the manager and the fans."
