Guadalajara took the lead after 34 minutes, but Tigres levelled three minutes into the second half through Damian Alvarez.
The visitors then had Patricio Araujo sent off in the 69th minute, but Tigres could not take advantage.
Despite that, though, they extended their lead to two points as Santos Laguna scored two late goals to come from behind and win 2-1 at Atlas.
The hosts took the lead from the spot in the 63rd minute, but strikes from Rodolfo Salinas (79) and Carlos Quintero (88) turned the game around.
That put Santos level on points with third-placed Club America, who also failed to win as they succumbed to a last-minute equaliser in a 1-1 draw with San Luis.
They appeared to be heading for victory courtesy of Juan Carlos Medina's 40th-minute goal, but it all fell apart in the dying seconds as Diego Reyes was sent off and Juan Cuevas equalised from the penalty spot.
Goals in the last two minutes from Abraham Carreno and Angel Reyna saw Pachuca come from behind to snatch a dramatic 2-1 win over Puebla.
Diego De Buen had put the visitors ahead in the 26th minute.
An own goal from Diego Novaretti gave Queretaro a 1-0 win over Toluca, while Duvier Riascos' 87th-minute strike earned Tijuana a 2-2 draw against Monterrey.
Fidel Martinez had put Tijuana ahead in the 27th minute, but the lead lasted just four minutes before Aldo De Nigris levelled and Humberto Suazo made it 2-1 three minutes later.
