Deschamps gives nod to Varane, Pogba
Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane and Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba are in line for their first France caps after both were named in coach Didier Deschamps' squad.
The duo, both 19, have impressed this season and could now feature in the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Spain, both at home and to be played on March 22 and 26 respectively.
Deschamps told reporters at a press conference: "Paul Pogba is a player for the future and today the future is a reality.
"He was on my shortlist for the (friendly) match against Germany and he has had game time at Juventus, even if he is not yet a first-team regular. He will be coming along to play - why not from the start?"
Asked about Varane, who has impressed in his recent outings for Real, Deschamps said: "He is also one for the future, with a lot of potential.
"Early in the season he did not play very much but since January he has established himself at Real, and played in their big games against Barcelona and Manchester United."
Deschamps was adamant though that his current form did not guarantee him a place in Les Bleus' starting line-up.
"I'm indifferent to the journalists to what the journalists who say he should be in the team think," the former Marseille coach said.
"The France team is different from club football, but it makes sense that he is in the squad. It is true that he knows the Spanish players and that is far from a disadvantage."
Playmaker Franck Ribery is also in the France squad despite missing out for Bayern Munich in the Champions League in midweek with an ankle injury.
