Manager Andre Villas-Boas insists there will be no gloating on his part if he proves his doubters wrong by delivering Tottenham a top-four finish.

Villas-Boas arrived at Chelsea last season with a reputation as the brightest young manager on the continent, but his reign at Stamford Bridge ended after just 256 days following rumours of in-fighting off the pitch and poor performances on it.

The Portuguese was critical of Roman Abramovich during his first Tottenham press conference, accusing the Chelsea owner of "quitting" on him and breaking promises after cutting short his three-year "project" in west London.

Villas-Boas is looking to end the season above his former employers, who are two points behind Tottenham having gone through a difficult year characterised by supporter revolt and yet another managerial sacking.

But should Spurs, who Villas-Boas has led on a three-month unbeaten run, finish above the Blues in the table, the 35-year-old will resist any temptation to rub Abramovich's nose in it.

The Tottenham manager said: "At the end of the season I won't be so egocentric to consider it a personal success.

"That is not my type, but hopefully at the end of the season we are able to achieve what the club expects from the team."

Liverpool striker and Premier League top scorer Luis Suarez may be getting the plaudits but goalkeeper Jose Reina is starting to prove his worth to the side again.

Manager Brendan Rodgers believes the Spain international, whose form has been inconsistent in the last 18 months, is now reaping the benefits of the hard work he has put in.

It was no more evident than in the 4-0 win at Wigan last weekend when, despite the ease of victory, had it not been for two brilliant saves the result would have at the very least been less convincing.

Throughout this season Reina has been linked with a summer move away, with Arsenal and Barcelona two clubs reportedly in the frame, but Rodgers has always insisted the 30-year-old remains a key figure.

"Pepe has made comments himself that, at times, he can be better but what I know I get from Pepe is he always gives his best," said the Reds boss.

"He's not immune to mistakes. We've seen throughout the season, not just with Pepe, many goalkeepers make a mistake and unfortunately for them it can prove costly.

"In his performance last week he made outstanding saves at critical moments of the game.

"His preparation has been spot-on, he's training well and working very hard - he's now starting to get the rewards for that.

"He's still a young man: at 30 years of age, you can still improve.

"Look at the likes of Edwin van der Sar, who played until he was 40 at the top level.

"Goalkeepers can go on that bit longer - as long as the preparation is right and they focus and want to do better.

"There's no reason why Pepe Reina can't."

Chelsea hope to continue their rich recent FA Cup pedigree when they face Manchester United in Sunday's quarter-final at Old Trafford.

United, the runaway Barclays Premier League leaders and 19 points clear of fourth-placed Chelsea, last won the FA Cup in 2004.

Since 2007, the Blues have dominated the competition with four wins in six years, while interim manager Rafael Benitez lifted the trophy with Liverpool in 2006.

Following the highs of Wembley and Munich last May, Chelsea are enduring a torrid 2012/13 season and became the first Champions League holders to exit at the group stage last November.

The Blues lost their opening last-16 Europa League fixture with Steaua Bucharest on Thursday night and Benitez is pleased to have a swift change of focus with a key fixture against fierce rivals.

"It's a positive. It's good and it's a challenge for us," he said.

"In terms of the focus of the players, it's good. We have an opportunity very quickly to change things.

"It's a good competition, a very exciting competition and Chelsea, as a club and as a team, have been doing really well.

"Hopefully we can carry on doing well after this game. That means that we will be through."

Sir Alex Ferguson is confident Manchester United will bounce back from their Champions League heartache by turfing Chelsea out of the FA Cup.

United have spent the last few days licking their wounds after the shattering disappointed of European failure.

Ferguson is still furious at the manner of his side's defeat, and the controversial decision to send Nani off, which changed the entire course of a game he felt United were comfortable in.

But he knows life goes on. And for the Red Devils that means a meeting with Chelsea, against whom they have already had two titanic contests this season.

"We have a job to do on Sunday and I think we'll do that okay," said Ferguson.

"We've gone through this procedure many times.

"When you're at a club for a long time there are always damp moments and dark days.

"In general we recover very well and we'll do that again."
