Edu brace hands Liaoning winning start
Edu bagged a brace as Liaoning got their Chinese Super League campaign off to a winning start with a 4-2 triumph at Guangzhou.
The Brazilian forward netted five minutes before half-time, giving the visitors the lead for the second time after James Chamanga's early opener had been cancelled out by Aiyegbeni Yakubu, and then stretching the advantage to 4-1 14 minutes from the end after Kim Tae-Yan had added his name to the scoresheet a little past the hour mark.
Rafael Coelho made the scoreline slightly more respectable for the hosts when he pulled a goal back 10 minutes from time, but the points had long since been lost.
Shandong Luneng also enjoyed a successful opening weekend, Cui Peng's 76th-minute penalty securing a 1-0 home victory over Dalian Aerbin.
Finally, Shanghai Shenhua and Tianjin Taida began their seasons by battling out a goalless draw.
