European Football Monday Round-up

We round up the best of the footballing action across selected leagues in Europe.

Braga

Portuguese Primeira Liga

Braga turned up the heat on third-placed Pacos Ferreira on Monday by beating Olhanense 1-0 in the Portuguese Liga.

Starting out four points behind Pacos, Jose Peseiro's men scored early through Leandro Salino and never looked back.

It was a similarly easy night's work for Guimaraes, who were 2-0 winners at home to Academica.

Tiago Rodrigues opened the scoring just four minutes in, and when El Arbi Soudani added a second 16 minutes later the game was up.

Greek Superleague

Two stoppage-time goals gave Veria's Superleague survival hopes a lift tonight as they snatched a 3-1 victory over fellow strugglers Aris Salonika.

The home side trailed to a Nikos Angeloudis' strike four minutes into the second half, but substitute Nicolaos Kaltsas levelled things up after 65 minutes.

With the match seemingly heading for a draw, Michael Olaitan then popped up with a goal for Veria as stoppage time got under way before Kaltsas added another moments later to seal a stunning comeback.

The win lifts Veria four points clear of second-bottom Aris and level on points with Panthrakikos, who sit one spot above the bottom three.

Turkish Super Lig

Kasimpasa climbed to sixth in the Turkish Super Lig this evening thanks to a 2-0 home win over Trabzonspor.

Tabare Viudez opened the scoring in the 37th minute and Kalu Uche doubled the hosts' advantage a minute before half-time.

The result lifted Kasimpasa two positions - to within a point of fourth-placed Bursaspor in the final Europa League berth - while Trabzonspor remained 10th in the standings.

Danish Superliga

Esbjerg climbed out of the relegation zone tonight, beating AGF Aarhus 2-1 for only their fifth win of the Superliga season.

Hans Henrik Andreasen saw his 28th-minute opener for the home side cancelled out by Mate Vatsadze after 66 minutes.

Jesper Lange's goal 10 minutes later proved decisive, however, as Esbjerg moved one point above the bottom two.

AGF remain in sixth, two points away from the European places.
