The Brazilian midfielder was speaking at a press conference previewing his national team's friendly encounter with England at Wembley on Wednesday. Ronaldinho has been recalled to the Seleccao squad for the game, returning to international football after an absence of over a year.

Journalists were quick to ask the dribbling wizard as to his opinion on a possible switch to the Camp Nou for his compatriot. Many Spanish media outlets have strongly indicated that the big two clubs in Barcelona and Real Madrid already have contingency plans in order to snap up the 21-year-old star in the coming summer.

Messi, who recently won the Ballon d'Or for a record fourth time, had played together with Ronaldinho for five years and is held in high esteem by the Brazil international.

"I was happy for Messi, who is a great friend, and is deserving of everything that is happening to him," the 32-year-old playmaker commented.

"I imagine that the two can play together because they are among the best in the world.

"It would be very beautiful to see them together."

The Atletico Mineiro star then shared his thoughts on Neymar's development as a footballer.

"Today, he is among the best players in the world. It is a joy to return to play alongside him.

"No doubt he will prove to be the best in the world. The difference is that at his age I was coming to Europe. He is still in Brazil.

"He'll have time to do everything I did in football. He's an excellent player, an idol of Brazil, the best of today.

"He has everything to tread this path, as other players have. In football, things happen very fast.

"Today is an excellent time for Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo also.

"But Neymar is young and we all cheer him and we have great confidence that he will be the best in the world."

Brazil beat England when the two sides last met in 2009 with Nilmar scoring the only goal in the game in the second half.
