French Ligue 1
Paris St Germain responded to the much-publicised arrival of David Beckham with a comfortable win at Toulouse to strengthen their position at the top of the Ligue 1 table.
The former England captain on Thursday signed for the Parisian club until the end of the season but ruled himself out of this fixture because of a lack of match fitness, having not played since December.
However, his new team-mates proved they could do it without him and were already leading through goals from Javier Pastore and Zlatan Ibrahimovic when Toulouse were reduced to 10 men with the dismissal of Cheikh M'Bengue.
It was one-way traffic from that point onwards, and further goals from Mamadou Sakho and Gregory van der Wiel secured a seventh win in eight matches to lift PSG three points clear at the top.
Heerenveen picked up a vital win in their bid to avoid relegation from the Eredivisie after they beat RKC Waalwijk 1-0 at the Mandemakers Stadion.
The visitors looked to be up against it after Ramon Zomer was sent off four minutes into the second half, but with seven minutes left RKC also went down to 10 men after goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet saw red.
And Marco van Basten's side scored a winner five minutes from time courtesy of a Filip Djuricic penalty to move three points clear of the drop zone.
Turkish Super Lig
Besiktas missed an opportunity to move within two points of Super Lig leaders Galatasaray on Friday as they threw away a two-goal lead to draw with 10-man Karabukspor.
The match appeared to be going the way of the hosts thanks to goals from Ibrahim Toroman (16) and Olcay Sahan (58), while Erdem Ozgenc was then sent off for Karabukspor on the hour mark.
But the visitors rallied and Ahmet Ozek halved the deficit three minutes later before Lomana LuaLua equalised in the 70th-minute.
The result leaves second-placed Besiktas four points off top spot, having played a game more than Gala, while Karabukspor climb to seventh.
Kayserispor also came from behind to beat basement side Akhisar Belediye 2-1.
Theofanis Gekas fired Akhisar in front before the interval, but goals from Bobo (50) and Pablo Mouche (65) sealed the win for the mid-table visitors.
