PREVIEW: Reds set to derail City title bid
Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool have to get something from Sunday's match against Manchester City if this week is to be deemed a success.
The 35-year-old defender started a second successive league game in last night's 2-2 draw with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
Liverpool sacrificed a two-goal lead in north London, but Carragher remained upbeat afterward, insisting it would be a good point if they can follow it up by beating City at Anfield.
"It's one of those difficult ones because before the game you'd accept it; after an hour, you'd be disappointed," Carragher told Sky Sports.
"I always think when you get a draw it depends on how you get on in your next game.
"If we win there, it's a great four points. If we lose, it's only one point out of six. We've got to pick something up at City."
City boss Roberto Mancini's side will be looking for all three points in Liverpool after Manchester United extended their lead at the top to seven points on Wednesday.
Sir Alex Ferguson's men face a trip to Fulham in Saturday's late kick-off, while earlier in the day QPR welcome Norwich to west London.
Chelsea travel to Newcastle hoping for a change in fortunes after a disappointing draw on Wednesday night against Reading, who welcome Sunderland to the Madejski Stadium.
Swansea travel to West Ham, Wigan host Southampton and Aston Villa will look to stop the rot at Everton.
Arsenal welcome Stoke to the Emirates in Saturday's only other fixture, while north London rivals Tottenham will be hoping for an improvement when they travel to West Brom on Sunday.
Gareth Bale netted for Spurs in Wednesday's 1-1 draw at Norwich, but was frustrated to leave Carrow Road without all three points.
"It was obviously great to get the goal but we're a bit disappointed," he told the club's official website, www.tottenhamhotspur.com.
"In the first half we were nowhere near good enough, not at the races.
"At half-time, the gaffer told us what we needed to do and we came out in the second half a completely different team.
"They played quite direct and it was difficult, especially with the wind swirling around.
"In the second half we controlled the game and played some good football. We had quite a few chances and were quite unlucky not to win in the end."
