The Israeli midfielder was signed by Benitez for Liverpool in 2007 and featured for them for three seasons before being signed by the Blues in 2010.
Benayoun initially made an impact in the Premier League with West Ham as he scored eight goals in 63 appearances before moving to Liverpool, and rejoined them on loan over the summer this year.
At Chelsea, however, he has struggled to make his mark having been overlooked by three different managers, and only managed to notch 12 appearances over the past two seasons but a recent knee injury has also curtailed his impact at Upton Park.
He would definitely be eager to work with Benitez once more as he could find a new lease of life under his former manager even as Chelsea are on the road to recovery and have a midfield chock full of talent.
Under Benitez at Liverpool, he went on to score 12 Premier League goals over 92 appearances and was highly regarded by the Spaniard.
The 32-year-old is disappointed, though, that he will not get to give his all in order to help the Hammers build on their strong start to the season.
He wrote on his Twitter account and stated: "Recovering slowly from the injury..loan with west ham will be finish in few days so disappointed that I didn't took part in the last games."
