The Argentinean's brace took him to 10 goals for the season, an impressive haul given he isn't an out-and-out striker.
Nonetheless, the 20-year-old was quick to deflect the attention away from himself and hailed the role his team-mates and coach Zdenek Zeman played in the impressive victory.
"I think I've done well so far," he said. "But the substance is of my team-mates.
"They do so much for the attackers and allow us to score.
"He [Zeman] gives so much to the attack and [it] was an important win because we needed it and we are happy."
Lamela's team-mate Miralem Pjanic was quick to play down the win over Milan and was keen to stress the Giallorossi still have plenty to do if they were to end the season successfully.
"The season is still long," the Bosnia and Herzegovina international said.
"We have match after match to work for and in January there will be three tough matches."
Roma have three tricky away trips next month to Napoli, Catania and Bologna, and also entertain Inter Milan.
