Real Madrid skipper Iker Casillas recently voiced out his displeasure at what he considered to be excessive bragging by Barcelona regarding the success of La Masia.
Xavi's opinon on the issue differed from that of his international team-mate, as he told Marca that the club were simply enjoying the fruits of their labour.
"I respect Iker and he's my friend, but I disagree," Xavi stated.
"We have every reason to boast about the academy – we put our faith in it and are proud of the work carried out."
The central midfielder also pointed out that much of the success enjoyed by the Spanish national team, captained by Casillas, could be attributed to the Catalan club's players.
"Eight or nine of the graduates of the Barça academy have gone on to win the European Championship and World Cup and have been the backbone of the national team, so they ought to be proud of Barcelona's academy over in Madrid, too. They have played a big part in all that success," Xavi elaborated.
