Ezequiel Lavezzi scored his first goals for the club with a brace to help secure a 2-0 win over Dynamo Kiev which secured a spot in the next round of the Champions League for the Ligue 1 side.
Ancelotti was pleased with the win and has challenged his side to clinch top spot in the group by beating Porto in a fortnight's time.
"The team had a good attitude in the first half. Our game was not quite there though, but in the second half we did well on the counterattack.
"The second half was better. The team were most efficient when we had the ball at our feet. We enjoyed more possession [in the second half].
"Now we have to try to play against Porto to win this group. I think first place is very important to get an easier draw in the round of 16."
The win came as a morale-booster for PSG after they faltered to a 1-0 defeat against a 9-man Stade Rennes side at home over the weekend - a second straight home defeat following a loss to St-Etienne previously.
Ancelotti urged his players to bring the same level of play to the league game when they host Troyes this Saturday.
"This is an important result but I'm already thinking about the next game and I want to see the same attitude from my players in the league. We should not forget what happened against St-Etienne and Rennes."
