Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has already told Manchester City their Champions League bid is already over - and that it must hurt ahead of their Group D clash at the Etihad.
Meanwhile, Ajax boss Frank de Boer is still targeting the Champions League knockout phase but concedes a place in the Europa League would be a fine achievement for his side ahead of the visit of Borussia Dortmund in the other Group D match.
In Group C, Anderlecht are expecting a tough tie against AC Milan as the Belgian side look to secure European involvement for the winter. The Brussels team, who drew 1-1 in the San Siro in the corresponding fixture, lie third and know a win against the Serie A side would guarantee them at least a place in the Europa League.
Zenit St Petersburg lie fourth in the group and know even a win against Malaga in their penultimate group fixture might not move them up the standings but they are seeking a home win nevertheless to ease pressure on coach Luciano Spalletti.
And in Group B, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has already warned that there can be no room for complacency against whipping-boys Montpellier at Emirates Stadium.
In Germany, manager Huub Stevens does not expect Schalke's weekend defeat by Bayer Leverkusen to have any influence on their crucial Champions League clash with Olympiacos.
Porto, who are top of Group A and beat Dinamo Zagreb 2-0 in Zagreb in their opening pool game on September 18, have already qualified to the knockout stages but will be looking to consolidate their position and earn a potentially better draw.
And after a second successive home league defeat at the weekend - this time to nine-man Rennes - Paris St Germain have the opportunity to hit straight back at Dynamo Kiev and know that A draw would be enough to put Carlo Ancelotti's side into the knock-out stages of the Champions League along with Porto.
Porto, Malaga, Barcelona, Manchester United, Shakhtar Donetsk, Bayern Munich and Valencia have already qualified for the round of 16 stage.
Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund need to score just a point in order to escape the Group of Death and secure a berth in the last-16. City, on the other hand, need to beat the La Liga champions on home soil as well as Dortmund in Germany (while also hoping that Ajax beat Real Madrid in the next round).
Paris Saint-Germain will join Porto to the knockout stages if they avoid a loss against Dynamo Kiev.
In Group B, Arsenal and Schalke will qualify for the next round if they defeat Montpellier and Olympiacos respectively.
Malaga need just one point to secure top spot in Group C ahead of their visit to Russia while Anderlecht can leapfrog AC Milan into second place with a win at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium.
