Osotspa Saraburi winger Apipoo Suntornpanavej was the star of the show for Thailand as he grabbed a first-half hat-trick to inspire them to a 5-0 rout of Bhutan at the Thai-Japanese Stadium.

In a flying start to the game, Apipoo netted twice in the opening five minutes to give his side a comfortable lead early on, before adding a third a minute before the half-hour mark.

Samut Songkhram's Napat Thamrongsupakorn, who was handed a chance to impress following an injury to star striker Teerasil Dangda, then gave his chances of Suzuki Cup selection a boost when he netted seven minutes later.

Five minutes after the interval, the War Elephants capped off an excellent night at the office by grabbing a fifth through Ratchaburi midfielder Rattana Petch-Aporn, who was handed only his second cap at the age of 30.

Over at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Indonesia toiled to a 1-0 triumph over Timor Leste courtesy of a 67th-minute strike from veteran striker Bambang Pamungkas.

Defending Suzuki Cup champions Malaysia also failed to impress on Wednesday as they were held to a 1-1 draw by ten-man Hong Kong at the Shah Alam Stadium.
