Barcelona suffered a shock 2-1 defeat to Celtic in their midweek Champions League clash which saw the Blaugrana fail to make their domination in possession count as the La Liga outfit struggled to break down the Hoops' spirited defence.
This is not the first time Barcelona, renowned for their short passing style of play, have failed to break down teams employing ultra-defensive tactics and there have been renewed calls for the Catalan giants to devise an alternate playing style if their original tactics did not work.
Alves however does not believe that a Plan B is needed for the club to win games, and claimed that all the Blaugrana needed to do would be to improve on their current standards.
"Whenever we fail to win, the debate starts about whether we need a Plan B," Alves was quoted as saying by the official Barcelona website.
"But that makes no sense here, because we have our philosophy and our way of playing the game.
"They tried to bring in a big striker [Zlatan Ibrahimovic] a few seasons ago, but though there might be plenty of quality players around, very few fit Barça's style of play.
"The solution is to just make sure Plan A works better!"
Alves only recently returned to action after recovering from a month long injury and the Brazilian admits that he is working hard to regain his best form.
"I'm not happy with my form. I'm working hard to get back to my best fitness levels," Alves added.
"Teams weren't scoring against us before - it was us who were scoring, but despite the goals we've conceded, we are taking the points.
"Of course we want to win and keep clean sheets - it hurts to let one in!"
Barcelona are currently first in the La Liga and will take on Mallorca in their next league fixture.
