The two sides squared off in the Champions League this week with Milan especially eager to secure revenge after suffering a surprise loss to the first-time participants in the previous round. The match ended in a 1-1 draw with goals scored by Alexandre Pato and Eliseu and the result ensured Malaga's passage to the round of 16.
However, it was Milan who actually won another battle over the summer as Barcelona's Bojan, previously on loan at Roma for a season, had attracted the interest of the Andalusian side. An agreement had been reached until Milan's stature and the influence of president Silvio Berlusconi prevented the transfer from taking place.
Nevertheless, Bojan has struggled to star for the Rossoneri while Malaga have made a flying start to the new season. Despite this, his agent Giuseppe Riso insists that the Spaniard is happy at having made the switch to the Serie A runner-ups.
"It was an operation that Malaga had closed, then the desire to play in Milan and Galliani's relationship with Barcelona came into play. Their president was decisive," Riso revealed to Sky Sport Italia.
"Galliani in the night decided to close the operation, he has a fantastic relationship with Barca. Bojan, as everyone knows, is a player who has need for continuity.
"By finding continuity in my opinion he can only grow.
"[Does] he wants to stay? He is in love with Milan."
Bojan has scored just one goal from 11 appearances so far and has a clause in his contract allowing him to sign permanently for the Serie A side at the end of the season.
