Dortmund took the lead twice against Real in an open, thrilling encounter before being pegged back by a late Mesut Ozil goal.
Klopp gushed about the quality of football in the match and conceded that it was a tough encounter to prepare for.
"It is always a challenge to prepare for a team like Real Madrid. If you ignore the fact that we played in Madrid today [Tuesday], then it's possible to call this a normal football match, in which both teams played at a very high pace and challenged their opponent in all aspects," he told UEFA.com.
"My team were superb in the first half and in the second we showed a lot of passion. We were under plenty of pressure towards the end of the game, but I'm certain that we could have scored a third goal if we had broken through cleanly.
"It can not be taken for granted that we had Real away from home on the brink of defeat, we have earned away draws against two of the world´s best teams."
"It would have been fine with us if we had won the group already but we have won the head-to-head with Real which could not have been expected.
"We would have liked to grab a lucky win, but we earned a deserved point. We've had some luck. If you have no luck here [at the Bernabeu], you concede eight goals," Klopp explained.
"I think that José Callejón was brought on to win free-kicks and one of those led to the equaliser. Of course it's a shame to concede that goal in the later stages of the game, however, overall it was a lot of fun and a very intensive match. We forced our opponents to all kinds of things that they weren't necessarily willing to do. It was a great game.
Dortmund are currently a point ahead of Real Madrid at the top of Group D and will secure a spot in the next round if they beat Ajax on November 21.
