The centre-back was forced off four minutes from the end of normal time with an injury in the Reds' Carling Cup final victory over Cardiff at Wembley on Sunday.
Afterwards manager Kenny Dalglish said he thought the player had broken a rib.
Denmark coach Morten Olsen confirmed the 27-year-old had not joined up with the national squad.
"Daniel does not attend. He has sent his apologies. It is no surprise," Olsen told the Danish press.
"We - and especially Daniel - are sorry that he cannot come but we have some others who have also done well when he has not been present."
Fellow defender, and former Everton full-back, Lars Jacobsen said they would cope in the player's absence.
"Recently against Portugal we managed just fine," he said.
"Daniel is a player that plays when he's ready, but he has been a bit unlucky last year with a lot of injuries, so we are almost accustomed to playing without him, although he will obviously be missed."
