Odemwingie advises Berahino to quit Baggies

Saido Berahino should learn from his experience and leave West Brom following the reported dressing-room bust-up, former Baggies striker Peter Odemwingie has said.

It has been claimed the England Under-21 player was punched by a team-mate after failing to apologise for a mistake that led to Cardiff's late equaliser in the 3-3 draw.

Odemwingie had a high-profile and bitter falling-out with West Brom in January 2013 after failing to push through a move to QPR.

The striker eventually left the Hawthorns last summer for Cardiff before moving on again to Stoke this January.

The Nigeria international wrote on Twitter: "I see a repeat of my situation if he doesn't leave this summer. Senior pros haha."

West Brom have played down the incident and issued a statement on Wednesday evening after reports Berahino was considering legal action against a team-mate.

The 20-year-old said: "I am not taking legal action against any team-mate. I am only focusing on Saturday's game at Norwich."

Sporting director Richard Garlick added: "As we stated on Tuesday, the club has drawn a line under the matter. We have seven important games coming up and Saido, along with the rest of the squad, has a big part to play in them."

Berahino has made a big impression at Premier League level this season, scoring eight goals.

After speculation about his future, he signed a new contract in December committing him to the Baggies until 2017.
