Dortmund's Hummels back for Nurnberg game

Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp is set to welcome Mats Hummels back into his side for the visit of Nurnberg on Saturday.

The Germany international has played only once since November due to injury, but he is set to return this weekend when Klopp needs to find a replacement for the injured Sven Bender and suspended Marco Reus, along with the regular absentees Neven Subotic, Ilkay Gundogan and Jakub Blaszczykowski.

"He's been training normally since Wednesday and I presume everything's fine," said Klopp at a press conference.

After Sokratis Papastathopoulos suffered a knock in the 4-2 Champions League win over Zenit St Petersburg in midweek, Klopp will be particularly hopeful Hummels will make it with his one wish for 2014 - of picking up no more injuries - already out of the window.

Instead, Klopp is now hoping his side will cope with the losses the way they did on Tuesday and not like last Saturday, when they lost 3-0 to Hamburg.

"We've got to put things right in the Bundesliga," Klopp said. "But Nurnberg warrant our respect.

"They've played an excellent second half of the season and will receive our maximum attention, and ideally our maximum performance."

Nurnberg have turned the corner in 2014 with four wins out of five games having gone the entire first half of the season without a single victory.

"I'm pleased with the progress we're making," said coach Gertjan Verbeek. "But with every game, the doubts as to how long things can go on like this increase.

"We're only Nurnberg. We don't have so many good players."

Two of those - Daniel Ginczek and Timothy Chandler - are out injured, probably for the rest of the season, while Per Nilsson is suspended on Saturday.
