Wanderers maintain momentum with Perth win

Western Sydney Wanderers turned up the pressure on A-League leaders Brisbane Roar with a 2-0 win at Perth Glory.

Goals in either half from Mateo Poljak and Tomi Juric secured Wanderers the win as they moved to within four points of Brisbane, who face in-form Melbourne Heart on Sunday looking to bounce back from last week's home loss to Newcastle Jets.

Staying four points behind the Wanderers in third place are Melbourne Victory after they edged a seven-goal thriller against Adelaide United 4-3.

Adelaide forward Sergio Cirio who struck all three of his side's goals, netting in the third, 45th and 83rd minutes, but he still ended on the losing side as Victory took the spoils with strikes from Guilherme Finkler (15 and 57), Archie Thompson (66) and Kosta Barbarouses (75).

Also on Saturday, Alessandro Del Piero was on the scoresheet as Sydney FC won 2-0 at Newcastle, the former Italy star netting a 73rd-minute penalty after Sasa Ognenovski had broken the deadlock on the hour.
