Lolo: Atletico can expect 'uncomfortable' game

Osasuna defender Lolo has warned Atletico Madrid to brace themselves for an uncomfortable evening on Sunday.

The Pamplona club are looking for a victory that would aid their relegation fight and also put a dent in the Rojiblancos' title hopes.

Atletico continue to match Primera Division superpowers Barcelona and Real Madrid blow for blow in the title race and go into the weekend level on 60 points with those two sides at the top of the standings.

However, Diego Simeone's men will know they cannot afford to drop too many points from here to the end of the season if they are to be crowned Spanish champions for the first time since 1996.

Certainly they will be looking for a three-point haul from their trip to 14th-placed Osasuna, but the home side are also desperate for points and Lolo is determined to ensure Atletico have to scrap for anything they get this weekend.

He said: "It's a difficult game, but we have the option to get three very important points for the rest of the season.

"Those points can help distance us from the drop zone and make us freer.

"This week we've been working on making it a difficult game for Atletico and to make sure they don't feel comfortable."

The former Sevilla player, whose side are five points above the bottom three, added: "At El Sadar every team knows they can have a bad time if we do things well.

"We don't need to give our fans much encouragement for them to be right behind us."

Atletico recently went through a bit of a blip with three successive defeats seeing them knocked out of the Copa del Rey semi-finals and off the top of the Primera Division table.

However, since then they have beaten Real Valladolid 3-0 in the league and then on Wednesday claimed a 1-0 victory at AC Milan that has set them on course for a place in the Champions League quarter-finals.

The capital club would love to cap their week with another victory in Pamplona but midfielder Raul Garcia - who started his career with his home-town side Osasuna - knows just how tough it is likely to be.

He said: "We know that it will be a very complicated match on Sunday. At this stage of the season nobody gifts you anything and Osasuna will make things very difficult for us."
