Favre won't read too much into Bayern defeat

Borussia Monchengladbach coach Lucien Favre is not going to panic after his side's 2-0 defeat to Bayern Munich a week ago.

He takes his Foals to Hannover on Saturday evening looking to end a three-game winless streak, but looking on the bright side of last Friday's defeat.

The statistics can be read differently in that losing to Bayern was their first loss after eight games unbeaten.

"You know you can lose when you play Bayern," he said. "But we only lost because of two silly, unnecessary mistakes."

Nevertheless, they face a challenge as difficult as beating Bayern, according to their director of sport Max Eberl.

"They have only lost once at home all season," he said. "I think it's just as hard to win in Hannover as it is against Bayern.

"We're going to have to give it all we've got. Apart from Bayern, there's no team in the league who can win games when they give only 80 per cent."

Favre has confirmed that Tony Jantschke will return to the defence, replacing either Alvaro Dominguez or Julian Korb.

Hannover could field new signing Frantisek Rajtoral with coach Tayfun Korkut saying he is "absolutely ready" following his transfer from Viktoria Plzen this week.

He could take the right full-back role of captain Steven Cherundolo, who continues to labour with injury.

"I hope that Hannover can play in Europe again with my help," said the Czech full-back following his arrival in Lower Saxony.

Nine points currently separate them from that possibility while Gladbach could drop out of the top four with a defeat.
