French Football Federation president Noel Le Graet has told France coach Didier Deschamps his job is safe until the end of his contract in 2016 regardless of their performance at next summer's World Cup.
France came through the qualifying play-offs to book their ticket to Brazil, beating Ukraine 3-2 on aggregate after suffering a 2-0 reverse in the first leg, and Le Graet admitted that with the squad undergoing something of a rebuilding phase the FFF would not be setting Deschamps specific targets for the World Cup.
"There is no specific target," he said in comments reported by L'Equipe.
"Didier will remain the coach until 2016 regardless of the results at the World Cup.
"We were relieved to qualify. After the celebrations comes the competition... The France team is progressing. If Didier can keep his squad together without injury, the team has a future and can reach an honourable finish."
