The Crocs, who have not been beaten all campaign long, entered Tuesday's tie at the Majlis Perbandaran Selayang Stadium knowing a win would be enough to claim an unassailable lead over third-placed Johor and wrap up promotion to the Super League.
And following a goalless first half, they took the lead when Bosnian forward Muamer Salibasic scored from a corner in the 64th minute, but the three points were never in the bag until Bobby Gonzales added a second two minutes from time.
Three minutes into injury-time, Sarawak favourite Gonzales grabbed his second of the evening to cap off a fine outing for his side, ensuring they bounced right back up to the Super League following their relegation last season.
Johor kept alive their hopes of promotion after recording a 1-0 win over Kedah at the Pasir Gudang Corporation Stadium, a result which saw them extend their unbeaten run to six matches.
Argentine striker Muriel Orlando, returning from a one-game ban, struck in the 54th minute when he fired past Abdul Hadi Hamid after being set up by compatriot Ezequiel Gallegos to hand the hosts maximum points.
The victory also helped Johor close the gap on second-place Sime Darby, who fell to a 1-0 defeat away to SPA FC.
A hat-trick from Koh Traore inspired Sabah, Sarawak's east-Malaysian neighbours, to a 3-1 triumph over Kuala Lumpur at the Likas Stadium.
The Ivorian opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a firm header, but the hosts found themselves pegged back eight minutes later when Khairul Anuar Shafie equalised for Kuala Lumpur.
Nonetheless, Troare slotted home on the rebound after a goal-mouth scramble to help the Rhinos reclaim the lead six minutes from time, before completing his hat-trick at the death to round off the scoring.
In Tuesday's other games, Perlis romped to a 4-0 home win over bottom side UiTM FC, while PDRM and NS Betaria played out a 0-0 draw at the Hang Jebat Stadium.
