The Malaysia captain was left out of the starting XI to face Pahang in Friday's league clash, although he did come on a substitute in what turned out to be a 1-0 win to Harimau Selatan.
However, just an hour before kickoff at the Larkin Stadium, rumours began to spread that Safiq was about to sign for FELDA.
If the move does prove to be true, he will join Azmi Muslim as the second big-name Darul Takzim signing to leave the club and join the Petaling Jaya-based outfit.
Safiq has not enjoyed the best of times with Harimau Selatan since signing for them from Selangor, and he was an unused substitute in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Red Giants in the Malaysia Cup quarter-finals.
Neither club has yet to issue an official statement although there is likely to be word in the coming days if the move goes through, given the Malaysian transfer window will close in three days' time.
