Despite falling behind in Saturday's first leg at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium through Mohd Nizam's 73rd-minute opener, the Turtles equalised three minutes later when Jean-Emmanuel Effa Owona scored, before further goals from Ashaari Shamsuddin and Ahmad Nordin Alias handed them the win.
Although they now have a comfortable lead and home advantage in next Tuesday's return leg at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium, Elavarasan is determined that his side avoid complacency.
"I'm worried that the players become overconfident after the 3-1 victory over Negri Sembilan," he said, according to Utusan Malaysia. "Anything can happen if they are not careful.
"I have told them to focus on the second match in Terengganu as it is important to ensure we progress to the next round."
Nonetheless, Elavarasan was pleased with the way his charges fought back from a goal down to win the match so late in the game.
"I admire their determination," he added.
"At first, we expected a draw but the players proved otherwise and led the team to victory."
After a poor start to 2013, the Turtles have also recovered in the Super League and are currently 8th in the 12-team competition.
