Harimau Selatan, currently fourth in the Super League, were expected to ease past their Premier League opponents at the Darul Aman Stadium but found themselves 2-0 down after 22 minutes following a clinical brace by Malaysia international Khyril Muhymeen Zambri.

However, star Spanish import Dani Guiza came to Darul Takzim's rescue by pulling one back in the 70th minute, before grabbing his second at the death to force extra-time and then penalties, where his side ultimately prevailed 5-4.

Next up for Fandi Ahmad's misfiring charges in the FA Cup is a glamour clash with Selangor, who booked their spot in the quarter-finals earlier in the month with a 3-0 win at Sabah.

Elsewhere on Tuesday, Negri Sembilan, who are yet to record a victory in the league this season, eased the pressure on coach Divaldo Alves by beating Pos Malaysia 2-0, thanks to first-half goals from Fauzi Nan and Rashid Mahmud.

Fellow Super League strugglers Terengganu also picked up a much-needed win after seeing off third-tier Penang, with in-form forward Ashaari Shamsuddin getting them on the way with a well-taken brace, before Khairul Ramadhan wrapped things up 15 minutes from time.

High-flying Pahang ended a brief slump in form after three top-flight games without a win by crusing to a 7-1 rout of Tentera Darat.

After R. Gopinathan had opened the scoring in the 14th minute, Malaysia international Azamuddin Akil stole the show with a quick-fire brace shortly before the half-hour mark, before Faizol Hussein netted from the edge of the box to hand his side a 4-0 lead at halftime.

Azamuddin then completed his hat-trick just after the break when he netted from the spot and grabbed his fouth in the 70th minute, after Faizal had pulled one back for Tentera Darat with a penalty of his own.

Two minutes from time, the emphatic triumph was completed when Mohamed Borji got in on the act by adding a 7th for Pahang.

Finally, Azizan Baba and Bobby Gonzales struck to hand Sarawak a 2-0 home win over PBAPP FC, while an own-goal from Marzuki Yusof saw T-Team fall to a 1-0 loss to Sime Darby at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium.
