Entering the clash just two points behind leaders Pahang, Irfan Bakti's charges took the lead in the 13th minute when Francis Forkey Doe, who is starting to find some form after a slow start to his Red Giants career, scored with a looping header.
Three minutes before the half-hour mark, Selangor's advantage was doubled when Ramez Dayoub leapt highest inside the area to meet a Mahalli Jasuli delivery and powered a header past a hapless Khairul Fahmi.
Although Kelantan showed a few signs of life following that, they never really came close to threatening Norazlan Razali's goal as the hosts cruised to a comfortable three points.
In the day's early kickoff, struggling Terengganu moved off the foot of the table after picking up their first win of the season by beating Perak 2-0 at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium.
Ashaari Shamsuddin opened the scoring for the Turtles when he netted in the 14th minute, before Cameroonian striker Jean-Emmanuel Effa Owona wrapped things up for E. Elavarasan's side a minute after the break.
