The 22-year-old midfielder was replaced by Cameron Stewart after 45 minutes of the Clarets' 2-1 win at Derby on Saturday with a hamstring problem, and the club will assess the player's fitness before the game at the County Ground.

Charlie Austin scored twice to secure the victory at Pride Park on his return from a hip injury, and the npower Championship's joint top goalscorer showed no signs of concern after playing the full 90 minutes.

Ben Mee started his first league game of the season in the win against the Rams, and is expected to retain his place in defence.

Fellow defender Michael Duff is unlikely to be rushed back for the cup clash having missed the last two games with an Achilles injury.

Danny Ings is continuing his recovery from a knee operation, but remains at least six weeks away from a return to the first team.

James Collins and Nathan Thompson are in line to retain their starting places for Swindon.

Striker Collins successfully completed 53 minutes against Bournemouth on Saturday as he returns to fitness following injury, while Thompson starred at right-back in the 4-0 defeat of the Cherries.

Federico Bessone is likely to have to settle for a place on the bench with Paolo di Canio favouring Jay McEveley against Bournemouth.
