Zinedine Zidane was pleased with the response of Real Madrid in their 3-1 defeat of Getafe on Saturday night.
Real came into the tie having suffered a 1-0 loss to Espanyol on Tuesday.
But goals from Gareth Bale (24′) and Cristiano Ronaldo (45, 78) secured the three points this time around, with only Francisco Portillo on target for Espanyol, from the penalty spot on 65 minutes.
After the match at the Santiago Bernabeu, Zidane told the press: “The game went just as we’d planned and we looked very good. I’m pleased with the result, the atmosphere and the team’s performance. Now we have to turn our attentions to Tuesday and show even more intensity. We’re ready for Tuesday’s game”.
Real Madrid face PSG in the second leg of the Champions League on Tuesday, with a 3-1 lead from the first leg.
Zidane added: “The team looks better than it did four days ago, I’m sure of that. It was very important to put in a disciplined, all-round decent performance. All the players looked focused, and it’s great to go into Tuesday’s game off the back of a win”.
On Ronaldo, the manager said: “He’ll be with us in Paris and I’m thrilled because he’s enjoying an incredible run of form. We have to make the most of it.”
