Man Utd vs Arsenal Player Ratings

Arsenal continued their run of poor form as they crashed out of the FA Cup after losing 2-0 to Manchester United.

Gymnasts?

Man United

Edwin van der Sar - 8
Excellent goalkeeping from the veteran keeper to match everything Arsenal threw at him.

John O'Shea - 6
Although he was played out of position, he neutralized the Gunner's midfielders with ease.

Wes Brown - 6
Had an improved run out against the lackluster Arsenal side.

Patrice Evra (83' off) - 7
Did not give in to his fellow Frenchman and showed everyone he meant business.

Nemanja Vidic - 7.5
His usual no nonsense defending made life miserable for van Persie. Vidic is any manager's dream defender to have..

Rafael (64' off) - 7.5
Used his pace well and showed determination to get to the end of every ball, creating both of United goals in the process.

Chris Smalling - 7
Once again showed calm nerves, not panicking when danger lurks.

Fabio Da Silva (45' off) - 7
Repeatedly made runs into the box and it eventually paid off with the goal as he was the first to pounce on the rebound.

Darron Gibson - 6
Arsenal's inability to keep possession made Gibson look good in the middle of the park.

Wayne Rooney - 7
His ball control and distribution from a deeper position was very effective against Arsenal. A well measured header guided the ball into an empty net, doubling United's lead.

Javier Hernandez - 6.5
The Silva twins stole the show, but Hernandez always ensured he was at the end of every cross in the Arsenal penalty box.

Substitutions

Antonio Valencia (45' on) - 6
Good to see him return after his horrific broken ankle. Looked bright at the start, but stopped his runs after awhile due to fatigue.

Ryan Giggs (64' on) - 6
N/A

Paul Scholes (83' on)

Arsenal

Manuel Almunia - 7.5
Pulled off a string of great saves to keep Arsenal's FA Cup hope alive, but the overall team performance was poor.

Bacary Sagna - 7
His crosses from the right gave United a few problems, but there weren't many Arsenal players in the box to meet his crosses.

Johan Djourou - 8
By far Arsenal's most consistent performer after returning from injury. Pity his season is over after picking up that injury.

Laurent Koscielny - 5
Could not repeat his UEFA Champions League form and was caught napping on numerous occasions in this game.

Kieran Gibbs - 6
Did not provide as much support down the left compared to Clichy, but he was solid at the back.

Andrei Arshavin - 5
The Russian was lazy on the flanks, barely making runs and no shots from outside the box to test the keeper.

Samir Nasri - 6.5
Was not in the show off mood, looking uninterested in the game. However, he was by far Arsenal's liveliest player.

Abou Diaby (72' off) - 1
Squandered possession when he got the ball, or just stood around waiting for something to happen. He was a real pain to watch and should have been taken out long before the 72nd minute.

Denilson (60' off) - 3
The holding midfield player was like an aimless spirit wandering around the middle of the park. No run forwards to support any Arsenal attack, nor did he track the United runners from midfield.

Jack Wilshere - 7.5
The only man in a yellow shirt who looked like he wanted something from this game. The young man single handedly led Arsenal's pathetic attack.

Robin Van Persie - 6
Was under Vidic's watchful eye and did not have much space nor time on the ball.

Substitutions

Marouane Chamakh (60' on) - 5
Was signed to get in the box and win headers but his finishing wasn't clinical enough.

Aaron Ramsey (72' on) - 6
With time, Ramsey could be the next big thing if he can stay fit.

Tomas Rosicky (72' on) - 4
Barely had a sniff of the ball and should have remained on the bench.
