Birmingham vs Bolton Player Ratings

Kelvin Tan watched Bolton Wanderers steal a 3-2 win over Birmingham City to make the FA Cup semi-finals.

Similar running styles.

Birmingham City

Ben Foster :6

Could do little about all three goals, and will be cursing at the lack of proper support from his defenders.

Stuart Parnaby:5

Not the best of nights for Parnaby, who was simply not able to keep Klasnic quiet.

David Murphy (Off 83') :5

Went AWOL on several occasions, and couldn't seem to get into his groove.

Martin Jiranek  (Off 28'):5

Tried to push his side forward but a lack of quality movement means his efforts went awry.

Curtis Davis: 4

Tried to trouble Jaaskelainen on several occasions, but lacked the finishing touch. Brought down Kevin Davis for Bolton's second.

Barry Ferguson (Off 29') :6

Not a bad game, but couldn't deal with Bolton's movement. Taken off early in the first half.

Sebastian Larrson: 5

Did well to combine with Beausejour on several occasions, but unable to make as much of an impact as he wished.

Jean Beausejour: 7

Movement was good, but a pity his teammates couldn't follow him and pick up where he left off.

Jordon Mutch: 5

Too quiet and simply didn't shine.

Kevin Philips : 7

What a lovely goal from the journeyman striker- but a pity that it wasn't rewarded with a win for his side.

Cameron Jerome: 6

Got lucky with his goal, but put in a good hardworking shift and made the difference. However, clearly not a lucky star for Birmingham, with the Blues winning only one of their last eight games with him in the side.

Subs

Matt Derbyshire (On 83'): N/A

Liam Ridgewell (On 28'): 6

Embellished his reputation after coming on with some good footwork.

Nathan Redmond (On 29') : 6

Did well when called upon.

Bolton

Jussi Jaaskelainen: 6

Did his best with a defence that seemed to nap once in a while- and was lucky not to be sent off after bringing Cameron Jerome down in the second half.

Paul Robinson: 6

A competant enough performance.

Gretar Rafn Steinsson : 6

A rock for Bolton and gave them the confident to try for a goal.

Gary Cahill: 7

The young defender put in another masterclass, and will certainly be looked at by the big clubs sooner than later.

David Wheater: 5

Should have done better with Bolton's first goal, but headed it right back to Cameron Jerome instead.

Martin Petrov: 6

Did well with a spectacular volley early in the first half, and was clearly chomping at the bit for this game.

Fabrice Maumba (Off 61'): 5

Put himself about for the cause selflessly, but gave the ball away needlessly as well.

Staurt Holden: 9

Clearly the free transfer of the season, Holden was everywhere for the Wanderers and the chief architect of Birmingham's downfall.

Kevin Davies : 8

His never-say-die attitude was crucial for Bolton, and they will need him to maintain this form if the Wanderers are to progress further in the competition.

Ivan Klasnic (Off 61'): 7

Generally played well, with moments of poor control marring his copybook for this match.

Johan Elmander : 7

A little too over-exuberant and tried to make things happen for Bolton with some physical play, and was rewarded after being played on by strike partner Klasnic in the first half.

Subs

Mark Davies ( On 61'): 7

Did well to help Bolton regain the initative when he came on.

Chuang- Yong Lee ( On 61'): 8

The match-winner was fantastic with his endless running.

Matthew Taylor ( On '90): N/A
