The Gunners find themselves in a disappointing sixth place in the Premier League table after stuttering to a 1-1 draw against Southampton on Tuesday. However, Wenger's men will have to look past their result against the Saints and turn their focus to Swansea, their opponents in what could be a tricky FA Cup tie over the weekend.
With the Frenchman keen for Arsenal to make an impression within the competition, Wenger told the club's official website that his team will give their best when taking on Michael Laudrup's squad.
"We play at Swansea; it's a difficult tie, but of course we want to come out on top, the FA Cup is something special because it is exciting, it has a special history in England and I have always respected that. I am always sad when we don't win it or when we go out," he shared.
"We will put our maximum effort in on Sunday to win the game. It's the first round we come in, so people will speculate a lot about who will win it in the end. To have a chance to do that, you just need to get through the first round [you take part in]."
Premier League teams typically make use of cup tournaments to offer fringe players time on the pitch, but the Gunners manager insisted that he had no such plans.
"I just play the team that I think has the best chance of winning the game, without considering any rotational desire, unless I think one or two players need a breather," Wenger shared.
"It will not be based on the fact that it’s purely rotational."
The FA Cup third-round tie between Swansea and Arsenal will take place this Sunday.
